Blue Coats Acquire Keenan Evans & Chris Horton From Grand Rapids Drive

The Delaware Blue Coats announced on Tuesday, that team has acquired guard Keenan Evans and the returning player rights to Chris Horton from the Grand Rapids Drive.  Delaware sent the Grand Rapids Drive the returning player rights to Shawn Long and Devondrick Walker. The Blue Coats also announced the team is waiving recently acquired  guard Nick Hickman.

The first new Blue Coat player is Keenan Evans who is a six foot three guard who played for Texas Tech for his college basketball career. In four years at Texas Tech, Allen had averaged 12 points per game, 2.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 25.9 minutes per game in 131 games.

In his senior season (2017-2018), Evans finished his college career strong as he averaged 17.6 minutes per game, 3.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 29.5 minutes per game in 36 games.

Evans earned numerous honors and awards for his senior season which includes  First Team All-Big 12,  Consensus Second Team All-American, Naismith Award Semifinalist, NCAA Tournament All-Region, Wooden Award – Finalists and Wooden Award – Late Season.

The former Texas Tech player also has a Philadelphia 76ers connection as Evans played with current  Sixers rookie Zhaire Smith in his senior season. The duo led Texas Tech to a 27-10 record, number three seed in the NCAA tournament and led the school to their first ever elite eight appearance in the tourney.

Evans also has NBA G-League experience as he signed a two-way contract with Detroit Pistons in July 2018. The newest guard for the Blue Coats averaged 14.6 points per game, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 31.9 minutes per game withe Grand Rapids Drive ( Detroit Pistons G League affiliate).

Then, there is six foot eight forward Chris Horton who played college basketball at Austin Peay State University. In four years at Austin Peay State University, Horton averaged 13.5 points per game, 2.5 blocks, 9.9 rebounds and 31 minutes per game in 127 games.

Horton also has NBA G-League experience as he averaged 6.2 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, 18.8 minutes per game in 49 games for the Grand Rapids Drive in the 2016-2017.

The newest forward for the Blue Coats has spent the past couple years playing professionally internationally in Hungary and Greece.
