The Wilmington Blue Rocks picked up their second straight win over the Brooklyn Cyclones on Saturday with a 4-2 victory!

Game Recap:

Blue Rocks would trail by two runs at the end of the fifth inning.

The two starting pitchers came out with their best stuff in the first four innings of this game, as Brooklyn’s Felipe De La Cruz and Wilmington’s Brad Lord gave up a combined one hit and zero runs.

It would be a different story in the top of the fifth inning, as the Cyclones would take a two-run lead when William Lugo hit a sharp line drive to the left fielder.

Wilmington ties the game at two at the end of the sixth inning.

The Rocks bats would start to catch fire in the bottom of the sixth inning, as the team scored two runs on three hits to tie the game at two.

Wilmington’s outfielder Daylen Lile would get on base first for his team in the inning, as he was hit by a pitch at his at-bat.

Infielder Kevin Made would come up to the plate next, as he slapped a single to the left fielder.

The next batter would be infielder Murphy Stehly, who knocked a two-run single to left field to tie the game at two.

The Blue Rocks take home a 4-2 victory!

Fast forward to the bottom of the ninth inning, where the game was still tied at two, and Wilmington was on their last out before the game went to extras.

But the game would never head into extra innings, as outfielder Jared McKenzie would hit a walk-off two-out, two-run homer to give the Rocks a 4-2 victory.

Pitching Recap:

Starting pitcher Brad Lord went four innings, gave up two runs, six walks, and struck three batters out.

The bullpen consisted of three relievers, who combined to give up four hits and four walks and struck out six batters.

Pitcher Carlos Romero closed out the game, as he went one inning, gave up two hits, struck out two batters, and earned the win.
