Blue Coats Acquire Keenan Evans & Chris Horton From Grand Rapids Drive

The Delaware Blue Coats announced on Tuesday, that team has acquired guard Keenan Evans and the returning player rights to Chris Horton from the Grand Rapids Drive.  Delaware sent the Grand Rapids Drive the returning player rights to Shawn Long and Devondrick Walker. It was Education Day at the Bob Carpenter Center for the Delaware 87ers and the team sure did educate the fans on how to be effective on offensive side of the ball. LOOK WHO IS BACK!!! The Delaware 87ers announced Monday that the team has  reacquired power forward/center Shawn Long. Long was definitely one of the most exciting and promising players on the 87ers in the 2016-2017 season. Long averaged  20 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 30 minutes per game in the 2016-2017 season. Sevens Shawn Long Named To NBA D-League All Star Game

The NBA D-League All Stars were announced Monday and one Delaware 87er earned that honor. The lucky honor went to Center Shawn Long, which is not surprising because he is averaging a double-double on the season. Long is averaging 20.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.4 blocks per game this season. The double-double machine is ranked 3rd in rebounding, 11th in scoring and 12th in blocking average. Born: 1/29/93 Height: 6-9 Weight: 248 lbs Position: Center College: Louisiana-Lafayette Began his playing days at Morgan City High School, where he averaged 21.4 points, 15.2 rebounds and 9.1 blocks as a senior. Long was named District MVP and defensive player of the year. The Morgan City Native also was named to multiple all-district teams in high school. The Delaware 87ers first game at the NBA D-League Showcase went pretty well as they picked up a win over the Windy City Bulls with a 129-109 score. Delaware is now 2-1 against the Bulls with one more meeting between the two teams. It all started in the first half where the Bulls quickly went up 5-0 in the early minutes of the game, thanks to an Aaron Thomas jump shot and an Alfonzo McKinnie three pointer. The Big man from the Ragin’ Cajuns ( Louisiana-Lafayette) was named NBA D-League Performer Of The Week. Shawn Long was on an absolute tear during the week of January 2nd through the 9th that won him the honor. Long led the Delaware 87ers to a 3-1 record, while averaging 24.5 points per game, 53.5 percent shooting from the field and led the league with 13.5 rebounds. The Delaware 87ers are just rolling right now, Saturday night they went on the road and smashed the Westchester Knicks 116-88. The Sevens have now won three straight against the Knicks.
