The Wilmington Blue Rocks earned their fourth win of the season on Saturday with a 3-2 victory over the Hickory Crawdads.
Game Leaders:
RBIs: Caleb Farmer would lead the team in RBIs, with two in the win.
Runs: T.J. White, Nick Shumpert, and Farmer also led the team in runs, with one in the game.
Hits: Farmer would lead the team in hits with two in the win.
Home Runs: Farmer hit a homer in the game.
Game Recap:
In the first four innings of this game, the starting pitchers had their way with opposing hitters, as the two only allowed a combined three hits during that time.
Wilmington would end the silence on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning when shortstop Jordy Barley hit an RBI sacrifice fly to give his team a 1-0 lead.
The Crawdads would push in a run in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at one.
Catcher Caleb Farmer would give the Blue Rocks the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning with one swing, as he hit a two-run homer to left field to extend the team’s edge to 3-1.
Hickory would score one more run in the ninth inning, but the Rocks would hang on to win 3-2.
Pitching recap:
Kyle Luckham went four innings, gave up two hits, two walks, hit one batter, and had four strikeouts.
Jaren Zinn would come in for Luckham, as he went two innings, gave up one hit, one run, one earned run, two walks, hit one batter, and two strikeouts.
Tyler Schoff would relieve Zinn, as he went two innings, struck one batter out, and earned the win.
Jack Sinclair would close the game, as he went one inning, gave up two hits, one run, one earned run, struck out one batter, and earned the save.
