Sevens Sign Derrick Byars

It was announced Monday that the Delaware 87ers acquired forward Derrick Byars. Byars was selected by the Portland Trailblazers with the 42nd pick in the 2007 draft, where  his rights were traded to the Philadelphia 76ers on the same night. Byars did not log any minutes for the 76ers and was waived on October 22, 2007. The 6ft, 7 inch forward then bounced around in summer leagues with the New Orleans Hornets and Orlando Magic in 2008. On Friday night there was a battle brewing at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington, DE. The battle was between Roy Jones Jr.(65-9, 47 KOs) and Bobby Gunn (21-7-1, 18 KOs). This was a one sided fight as the veteran boxer Jones Jr. had his way with the bare-knuckle champion Gunn most of the night. Jones Jr. used his quickness to pick apart his opponent with fast but controlled forceful jabs in the early rounds. Sevens Acquire Three-Time Dunk Champion Nate Robinson

The Delaware 87ers announced Wednesday that they have acquired NBA veteran and three-time NBA slam dunk champion Nate Robinson. Robinson played ten seasons in the NBA with several teams including  New York Knicks, Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder and New Orleans Pelicans.The 5ft 9 and 180 pound veteran averaged 11 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists,  and 1 steal in his ten years in the NBA. Sevens Dionte Christmas To Miss Remainder Of The Season Due to Ruptured Achillies

On a day where there were so many highs that included the Education Day game, Sevens setting a new attendance record with 4,104 fans and giving over 3,000 kids books at Tuesday’s game but there was also a low. Sevens Shawn Long Named To NBA D-League All Star Game

The NBA D-League All Stars were announced Monday and one Delaware 87er earned that honor. The lucky honor went to Center Shawn Long, which is not surprising because he is averaging a double-double on the season. Long is averaging 20.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.4 blocks per game this season. The double-double machine is ranked 3rd in rebounding, 11th in scoring and 12th in blocking average.
