The Delaware 87ers are just rolling right now, Saturday night they went on the road and smashed the Westchester Knicks 116-88. The Sevens have now won three straight against the Knicks. Sevens now have won back to back games with no rest.

It all started in the first quarter where the Knicks took a early 7-2 lead, thanks to Damien Inglis two made free throw shots and Marshall Plumlee’s dunk.  The Knicks would hold the lead the whole first quarter and even with Delaware clipping on their heels behind by 3 at end of the quarter.

In the second quarter, it did not look good for the Sevens because the Knicks would always start the quarter on fire shooting. Westchester went on a 6-2 to run in the early minutes of the second quarter to extend their lead to 30-23. Knicks run started with a Doron Lamb jump shot and ended on a Jaylen Bond layup.

Then around with 7:41 left in the first half, Shawn Long decided to bring a little bit of his Friday magic to this game and scored 6 points for the Sevens to get the score to 43-39.  Delaware would come within single digits to the lead many times within the second but just could not stop the Knicks from scoring. The second half ended with Westchester leading 55-50.

Delaware shot 46.5% from the field in the first half while the Knicks shot 48.7%.

Sevens shot 20% from three point range in the first half while the Westchester shot 33.3%.

Shawn Long led the Sevens with 14 points in the first half.

Chasson Randle and Marshall Plumlee led the Knicks with 10 points in the first half.

In the third quarter the tides started to change and the Sevens continued to chip away at the Knicks lead until a Shawn Long layup gave them a 62-61 lead with 6:48 left in the third. A couple minutes later after the Sevens took the lead, they went on a 11-5 run to extend the lead to 73-66. The run started with a Dionte Christmas three pointer and ended with an Anthony “Cat” Barber jump shot. The Sevens outscored the Knicks by 11 in the third quarter, ending it with a 78-72 lead.

In the fourth quarter, the Sevens took over this game for good. Delaware outscored Westchester by 22 in the fourth and had one of their biggest leads of the season by 30 points.

It all started with the Sevens scoring 12 consecutive points in the early minutes of the fourth to put them up 90-72. The Sevens continued to pile on the points for the rest of the quarter and they were just too much for the Knicks to handle. The Sevens cruised to an easy 116-88 win as the final buzzer sounded.

After having a dominating game at home Friday with 45 points and a double-double, Shawn Long continued his double-double streak vs the Knicks. Long had 20 points and 11 rebounds on the night.

The leading scorer of the night for the Sevens was former Westchester player Devondrick Walker with 21.

Along with Long and Walker, four other Sevens hit double digits in points and they were Richaun Holmes (10), Dionte Christmas (10), David Laury III (14) and Brandon Triche (10)

The Sevens (12-9) have some time to rest before their next game which happens on January 13th vs the Greensboro Swarm. Tip off is at 7pm ET.
