As the first half of the season comes to a close for the Carolina League, the best players in the league came to play at Hayley Toyota field in Salem, Virginia for the annual Carolina All-Star game on Tuesday night.
While both sides put on a good show and effort, it was the Carolina North All-Stars who took home the victory.
The North All-Stars scored early and that was enough for the North pitchers to carry the win all the way home.
The North All-Stars got their winning runs in the 1st by Salem Red Sox’s Third Baseman Michael Chavis hitting a double and knocking home Wilmington Blue Rocks Shortstop Nicky Lopez and Frederick Keys Right Fielder Austin Hays.
Lopez started the inning with a single to left field, then stole second base and went to third on a wild pitch.
Then, Austin Hays walked that set up Chavis RBI double.
After the first inning, it was all pitching for both sides and nobody could get a run past the All-Star pitchers on either team.
Chavis would be named Carolina League All-Star Game MVP for his RBI double in the first inning of the game.
This is a Delaware Sports Website so let us look at how the Wilmington Blue Rocks players in the All-Star game did.
