Wilmington wins in extra innings

Three innings later, the Blue Rocks would score the game-tying run by a mix of two walks, a bunt, and ground out.

The inning started with Jordy Barley earning a spot on first base with a walk. Cole Daly would follow Barley with also getting walked.

Two batters later, Yasel Antuna would come up to the plate, as he grounded out, but it would allow Barley to score to tie the game at one.

Pitching dominated the next three innings as neither team could chain enough hits together to muster up a run to win the game. The two pitching staffs, only gave up a combined four hits, and two walks in those three innings.

No winner in nine innings, which means this game was giving the fans some free baseball going into the tenth.

The top of the tenth inning started with Kevin Strohschein hitting a ground ball single to right field, which advanced Gage Canning to third base.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, it would be in the Blue Rocks closer’s Tyler Yankosky hands to seal the 2-1 win, and he did just that as Yankosky would get two groundouts and a strikeout.
