The Delaware Blue Coats opened up the 2021 regular season with a 114-100 win over the Long Island Nets on Saturday.
The leading scorer for the Blue Coats was guard Shaquille Harrison who had 29 points in the game.
Power forward Charlie Brown Jr. recorded a double-double in the game with 18 points and ten rebounds.
Four other Delaware players scored in double digits, which were center Braxton Key (11), point guard Shamorie Ponds (15), guard Jared Brownridge (12), and forward Haywood Highsmith (16).
Blue Coats had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included rebounds (55-54), assists (22-11), and steals (18-10).
Delaware also had the advantage in shooting as well, with the team shooting 43% (39-90) and with Long Island shooting 37% (36-97). Blue Coats also bested the Nets at the three-point line, with the team shooting 28%(10-36) and with Long Island shooting 19% (6-31). Delaware also was better at the free-throw line than the Nets, as Delaware shot 75% (15-20) and Long Island shot 64%( 14-22).
