Alu’s two RBI single gets Blue Rocks 3-2 win over Grasshoppers

The Wilmington Blue Rocks earned their 11th win of the season on Friday as the team defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers 3-2.

Game Stats

The RBIs in the game came from designated hitter Jake Alu (2), and right fielder Gage Canning (1).

Three Blue Rocks players had runs in the win, which were Canning (1), third baseman Gilbert Lara (1), and center fielder Armond Upshaw (1).

The Wilmington hitters gained eight hits in the win, which were left fielder Justin Connell (1), Alu (2), catcher Israel Pineda (1), second baseman Kyle Marinconz (1), Canning (1), and Lara (2).

Canning hit a solo home run in the win.

Upshaw stole a base in the game.

On the pitching side, starting pitcher Joan Adon went 5.2 innings, gave up five hits, two runs, two earned runs, two walks, four strikeouts, and one home run.

Alex Troop came in for Adon as he went 1.1 innings, gave up one hit, one strikeout, and earned the win.

Matt Cronin closed out the game as he went two innings, gave up one hit, one walk, four strikeouts, and earned the save.
