The Delaware 87ers lost a close game to the Iowa Energy on Saturday Night and one they looked very dominating in early. This gives the Sevens a two game losing streak.
Delaware started out fast with scoring the first five points of the game and then continued on a 13-7 run in the quarter. The Sevens outscored the Energy 21 to 12 in the first quarter and they were led by power forward and recent Washington Wizard player Danuel House who had 7 points in the quarter.
Then in the second quarter the Energy came out charged up and went on 14-3 run to tie the game up at 24 apiece around the 8:30 mark. Iowa was led by Guard Wayne Selden who had 4 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals during the run.
The 87ers then went on a run on their own which had the score at 39-29 which was the largest lead of the game for the 87ers. Iowa did not back down though and managed to narrow down the lead to a 5 point deficit which the score was 49-44.
The third quarter opened within the first three minutes the Iowa Energy took their first lead of the game which was a score of 52-51. Throughout the third quarter both teams battled for the lead which their was 5 lead changes in the quarter alone. The Energy managed to pull away from Delaware and take a 78-62 lead at the end of the third.
The fourth quarter was just like the third where both teams battled for the lead and it changed many of times. The last time the Sevens had the lead was 85-84 at the five minute mark in the fourth. Delaware would end losing the battle by getting edged out by the Energy 101-96.
Power Danuel House lead the Sevens in scoring with 24 points vs the Energy.
The Delaware 87ers fall to 1-2 on the season and return home to the Bob Carpenter Center, Monday at 7pm ET to take on the Greensboro Swarm
