The NBA D-League All Stars were announced Monday and one Delaware 87er earned that honor. The lucky honor went to Center Shawn Long, which is not surprising because he is averaging a double-double on the season.
Long is averaging 20.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.4 blocks per game this season. The double-double machine is ranked 3rd in rebounding, 11th in scoring and 12th in blocking average.
The Louisiana Lafayette alum had his best game on January 6th, where scored a career high 45 points and 14 rebounds in a win vs Erie BayHawks. The week before the Christmas break, Long had a career high 19 rebounds vs the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.
The 45 point performance help earn Long the NBA Development League Performer of the Week during the period January 2nd to the 8th. Long averaged 53.5 FG %, 24.5 points and 13 rebounds per game during that stretch.
The NBA D-League All Star Game takes place on Saturday, Feb. 18th at 1 p.m. CT.
