The Delaware 87ers announced Tuesday that they have acquired the returning rights to guard Corey Hawkins from the Salt Lake City Stars for Sevens 2016 first round draft pick Brannen Greene.
While not playing in the D-League at the moment, Hawkins is still improving his skills overseas playing for the Port of Antwerp Giants Belgian team. Hawkins has averaged 26 minutes per game, 40% field goal percentage, 4 rebounds a game while playing overseas.
The Philly native averaged 25.5 minutes per game, 11 points per game, 3 rebounds,two assists and one steal in the 2015 season with the D-League’s Idaho Stampede and Sioux Falls Skyforce.
The 6 ft 1, 200 pound guard was quite a force at UC Davis where averaged 21 points per game, 33. 3 minutes per game, 4 rebounds, 3 assists in his senior year. Hawkins collected a lot of accolades at UC Davis big named Big West Player of the Year (2015),a two-time first-team All-Big West selection (2013, 2015) and second-team All-Big West selection (2014). The newest member of the Sevens was the first UC Davis player ever to receive All-American honors from the Associated Press as he was on the honorable mention list.
Hawkins is the son of former Philadelphia 76ers shooting guard Hershey Hawkins.
Sevens 2016 first round pick Brannen Greene averaged 10.1 minutes per game, 5 points a game, shot 53% from the field and shot 62 % from the three point line this season.
