The Blue Rocks with the 5-3 loss in Thursday’s night game that makes three in a row the Rocks have lost. After being so hot at home winning six straight. Also, with the loss tonight Rocks were swept in the series by Lynchburg.
The Rocks got little production out of the offense tonight and the bullpen had one bad inning that cost them the game.
It all started with the Rocks getting on the board first with left fielder Anderson Miller hitting a solo home run off Lynchburg’s starting pitcher Thomas Pannone which gave Rocks the early 1-0 lead.
The only other score for the game for the Blue Rocks was a 2 run home run in the 9th inning by 3rd baseman Mike Hill that cut the score to 5-3 Lynchburg.
Rocks Anderson Miller now has 3 home runs and 11 RBIs on the year.
Hill now has 3 home runs and 10 RBIs on the season.
The Rocks went 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position and left 5 men on base during Thursday’s game.
Rocks starting pitcher Corey Ray was excellent in his start against Lynchburg with 5 innings pitched, 7 hits allowed, 1 run allowed, walked 1 and struck out 8 on the night.
Then the bullpen came in and started out flawless but then it got a little rocky at the end.
Pitcher Todd Eaton came in for Corey Ray and only gave up 1 hit in his 2 innings of work.
Then Jake Newberry came in the 8th and gave up a 3 run triple from Lynchburg’s Dorssys Paulino to put Hillcats up 4-1 and then Newberry let a sac fly in to score later on in the inning to make 5-1.
Rocks look to rebound tomorrow at home and look to win their 7th straight at home vs Myrtle Beach at 7:05 pm ET
