Koumadje Records A Double-Double in Blue Coats 108-95 Win Vs Magic

The Delaware Blue Coats took home a 108-95 road win on Tuesday as the team defeated the Lakeland Magic at the RP Funding Center.

The leading scorer of the game for the Blue Coats was center Christ Koumadje who had 18 points. Koumadje also recorded a double-double in the win as he had 11 rebounds with his 18 points.

Four other Delaware players scored in double-digits which they were guard/forward Marial Shayok (16), guard Xavier Munford (16), center Doral Moore (15) and guard Jared Brownridge (11).

Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game which included rebounds (50-40), assists (20-16) and blocked shots (5-3).

Delaware also had the advantage over the Magic in shooting percentage as the team had 51% ( 43-84) and Lakeland had 40% ( 34-84). Blue Coats also was better at the free-throw line then the Magic as the Delaware shot 80% (8-10) and Lakeland 79% (11-14).

A Slugfest In The First Quarter

The first quarter started with Lakeland jumping out to a 6-2 lead but Delaware would tie it up at six with 9:26 left in the quarter.

In the next couple of minutes, the two teams would slug it out as the lead would change eight times during that time. Lakeland would have a 17-15 lead at the 6:14 minute mark in the first quarter.

Starting at the 4:35 minute mark, the two teams would continue to battle it out for control of this game which the lead changed hands eight times during the three-minute stretch. At the end of that stretch, the Magic would have a 27-25 lead over the Blue Coats with 1:36 left in the quarter.

Each team would finish the quarter scoring five points each but Lakeland would take a 31-30 lead into the second quarter.

Blue Coats Trail By Three At The Half

The Magic would start the second quarter by outscoring Delaware 9-6 in the first five minutes of the quarter, which gave them a 40-36 lead.

The Blue Coats would make their first big run of the game at the 6:25 minute mark when the team went on a 13-5 run to take a 49-45 lead with 4:45 left in the quarter. Haywood Highsmith was the leading man on that run as he scored six of the 13 points. Delaware hit three shots from the perimeter on that run.

Lakeland would answer back with a 12-5 run of their own which gave them a 57-54 lead at the half.

Delaware Finally Takes Control of Game In Third

Delaware looked reenergized in the early minutes of the third quarter as the team started off on a 14-5 run which gave them a 68-62 lead with eight minutes left in the quarter. Marial Shayok led Delaware on that run as he scored six of the 14 points.

It was the first time in the game, the Blue Coats outscored the Magic in the early minutes of a quarter.

The Blue Coats would outscore the Magic 14-12 for the rest of the quarter to take an 82-74 lead into the fourth.

Blue Coats Take Home A 13 Point Win

The Blue Coats started the quarter off by outscoring the Magic 12-9 in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter which pushed their lead to 94-83 with 7:13 left in the game.

Delaware outscored Lakeland 14-12 for the rest of the game to end with a 108-95 road win.

The Blue Coats stay on the road as the team heads to Grand Rapids to face the Drive on January 17th at 7 PM ET.
