The Delaware Blue Coats picked up their first road win of the new decade on Tuesday as the team defeated the Westchester Knicks 122-109 at Westchester County Center.
The leading scorer of the game for the Blue Coats was guard/forward Marial Shayok who had 25 points.
Five other Delaware players scored in double-digits which they were guard Jared Brownridge (20), guard Xavier Munford (19), center Norvel Pelle (10), power forward Zhaire Smith (16) and small forward Julian Washburn (11).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game which included assists (33-21), steals (15-2) and turnovers (13-24).
Delaware also had the advantage over the Knicks in shooting percentage as the team had 48% ( 44-92) and Westchester had 44% ( 36-82). The Blue Coats also bested the Knicks at the three-point line with the team shooting 39%(17-44) and Westchester shot 37% (13-35). Delaware also was better at the free-throw line then the Knicks as the Blue Coats shot 77% (10-13) and Westchester 70% (14-20).

Blue Coats Down By Six After One Quarter
The game started with the Blue Coats jumping out to a 7-3 lead which was led by Marial Shayok who scored five of the seven points.
The four-point lead did not last long as the Knicks would score five unanswered points in the following minute which gave them an 8-7 lead with 9:23 left in the quarter.
Starting at the 8:58 minute mark, Westchester would go on a 13-6 run which would give the team a 21-16 lead with 5:22 left in the first quarter.
At the 3:19 minute mark, the Knicks would outscore the Blue Coats 13-7 to take a 34-28 lead into the second quarter.
Delaware Trails By Eight At The Half
It was more of the same for the Blue Coats in the second quarter as the team would play catch up pretty much all quarter.
Starting at the 8:21 minute mark, the Knicks would outscore the Blue Coats 22-12 to push their lead to 64-49 with 2:10 left in the half.
The Blue Coats would outscore the Knicks 10-2 to close the half with the team trailing Westchester 66-58.
Blue Coats Make A Run In Third Quarter To Take A Five-Point Lead
The Blue Coats looked like a different team to start the second half as the team started the third quarter with a 15-6 run. The run gave Delaware a 73-72 lead with 7:23 left in the quarter. Julian Washburn, shooting guard Shizz Alston Jr. and Zhaire Smith led that run as each player scored five points.
In the next five minutes, the game would turn into a battle as the lead would go back and forth with several ties occurring in those minutes.
Delaware would take the control of the game back when the team went on an 11-3 run at 3:32 minute mark which gave the Blue Coats a 89-84 lead to end the third quarter.
Delaware Takes Home A 13 Point Win
The Blue Coats continued their momentum in the fourth quarter as the team opened the quarter up with a 12-2 run which gave Delaware a 101-88 lead with 7:18 left in the game.
Norvel Pelle was the leading man on the run for the Blue Coats as he scored six of the 12 points.
Starting at the 4:30 minute mark, the Blue Coats would outscore the Knicks 12-9 for the rest of the game which gave Delaware a 122-109 win as the final buzzer sounded.
Delaware travels back home to face the Grand Rapids Drive on January 10th at 7 PM ET.
