Seven Blue Coats Score In Double-Digits In 134-95 Win Vs Swarm

The Delaware Blue Coats warmed up the 76ers Fieldhouse on a cold Friday night as seven players scored in double-digits in the 134-95 win against the Greensboro Swarm.

The leading scorers of the game for the Blue Coats were guard Michael Bryson and guard Jared Brownridge who each had 19 points.

Five other Delaware players scored in double-digits which they were guard/forward Marial Shayok (18), forward/guard Julian Washburn (18), center Doral Moore (17), forward Haywood Highsmith (14) and center Christ Koumadje (10).

Guard Xavier Munford had the magic touch of finding his teammates in the right spot in this game as he dished out 13 assists.

Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game which included rebounds (50-47), assists (31-22) and blocked shots (11-1).

Delaware also had the advantage over the Magic in shooting percentage as the team had 57% ( 50-87) and Greensboro had 36% ( 37-103). At the three-point line, the Blue Coats bested the Swarm with 47% ( 21-45) shooting percentage to Greensboro’s 36% (37-103).

Blue Coats also was better at the free-throw line then the Swarm as the Delaware shot 100% (8-8) and Greensboro shot 63% ( 5-8).

Blue Coats Lead By Nine After One Quarter

The game started with the Swarm coming out with a quick 6-0 lead which was thanks to their center Thomas Welsh’s back to back made three-pointers.

The Blue Coats would go on a 10-4 run in the next minute which would tie the game at 10 with 9:06 left in the quarter. Delaware would hit two three-pointers on that run which came from Jared Brownridge and Julian Washburn.

Starting at the 4:28 minute mark, the Blue Coats started a 16-4 run which gave the team a 33-24 lead after one quarter. During this run, Delaware caused two turnovers and blocked one shot.

Delaware Leads By 24 At The Half

The Blue Coats started the second quarter with the momentum the team had in the late first, as they outscored the Swarm 23-14 to push their lead to 57-40 with 4:46 left in the half. Jared Brownridge and Doral Moore led that run as each player scored six of the 21 points.

At the 3:48 minute mark, Delaware would go on a 13-4 run to give the team a 70-46 lead at the half. In that run, the Blue Coats had three blocked shots and caused one turnover.

The Blue Coats Sitting Pretty With A 43 Point Lead In Third Qtr

Delaware came out of the half by outscoring Greensboro 19-10 in the early minutes of the third to increase their lead to 88-56 with 8:07 left in the quarter. The Blue Coats would hit four three-pointers in that run which were from Julian Washburn (1), Jared Brownridge (1) and Marial Shayok (2).

The Blue Coats went on a late quarter 19-4 run at the 5:23 minute mark which expanded their lead to a dominating 109-66 after three quarters. On this run, Delaware had one block and caused one turnover.

Delaware Cruises To A 39 Point Victory

The fourth quarter started with the Swarm showing some life which the team went on a 7-0 run to decrease the Blue Coats lead to 109-72 with 10:11 left in the game.

The Blue Coats would answer back with a 9-0 run of their own which pushed their lead to 118-72 with 8:32 left in the fourth quarter.

Starting at the 6:35 minute mark, Delaware would outscore the Swarm 16-15 to cruise to an easy 134-95 home win.

Delaware stays at home to take on the Erie Bayhawks on January 25th at 7 PM ET.
