Munford Scores 21 In Blue Coats 110-93 Win Over Knicks

The Delaware Blue Coats won 110-93 over the Westchester Knicks on Friday at the 76ers Fieldhouse.

The leading scorer of the game for the Blue Coats was point guard Xavier Munford who scored 21 points.

Center Doral Moore had a double-double in the game with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Three other Blue Coats players scored in double digits and they were guard/forward Shake Milton (18), shooting guard Jared Brownridge (14) and power forward Jonah Bolden (12).

Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game which included rebounds (58-40) and assists (21-17).

Delaware also had the advantage over Westchester in shooting percentage as the team had 45% ( 41-91) and the Knicks had 38% ( 33-87). The Blue Coats also bested the Knicks at the three-point line with the team shooting 33%(11-33) and Westchester shot 28% (10-36).

The Blue Coats also took advantage of their time at the free-throw line as the team shot 82% (9-11). The Knicks shot 61% (11-18) from the free-throw line.

Delaware Leads By Six After One Quarter

At the 7:53 minute mark in the first quarter, the Delaware Blue Coats would make their first big run of the game when they outscored the Knicks 17-7 to give them a 24-13 lead with 2:18 left in the quarter.

The Knicks would outscore the Blue Coats 7-2 for the rest of the quarter to decrease Delaware’s lead to 26-20 to end the first quarter.

Blue Coats Lead By Five At The Half

The second quarter started with the Knicks outscoring Delaware 16-10 which tied the game up at 36 with 7:55 left in the half. The scoring run for the Knicks included a made free throw that came from a technical on Blue Coats assistant coach Xavier Silas.

At the 7:30  minute mark, the Blue Coats would go on a 17-8 run which gave the team a 53-44 lead with 2:14 remaining in the half.

The Knicks would score two more buckets to end the half with the team trailing Delaware 53-48.

Delaware Leads By 12 In Third Quarter

The Blue Coats would outscore the Knicks 24-11 in the first nine minutes of the quarter which expanded their lead to 77-59 with 3:49 left in the third. Shake Milton led the charge on that run with scoring seven of the 24 points.

The Knicks would answer back with a run of their own as they outscored the Blue Coats 12-6 to decrease Delaware’s lead to 83-71 with one quarter remaining.

Blue Coats Take The Win By 17

Delaware would start the fourth quarter by going on a 22-5 run which increased their lead to 105-76 with 4:05 left in the game. The run was led by Xavier Munford who scored 13 of the 22 points.

The Knicks would outscore Delaware 17-5 for the rest of the quarter but it was not enough to make a comeback as the Blue Coats would take 110-93 win as the buzzer sounded.

Delaware heads to Florida to take on the Lakeland Magic on December 1st at 3PM ET.
