Blue Rocks comeback falls short in 7-6 loss vs Salem

Blue Rocks dug themselves a hole in the early innings of Friday’s road game  in Salem and fell just short of a comeback by losing 7-6 in the series opener.

Salem had a night on the Rocks pitching having 11 hits and 7 earned runs in the game.

Rocks starting Pitcher Zach Lovvorn pitched 1.1 innings, gave up 5 earned runs, 8 hits, and 3 walks in Friday’s game vs Salem.

After Lovvorn exited the Blue Rocks bullpen only gave up two more earned runs and 3 hits.

Red Sox starting pitcher Daniel McGrath was able to keep the Rocks bats quiet in the six innings he pitched. McGrath gave up one run, three hits, and 2 walks in six innings.

After McGrath exited that’s when the Blue Rocks bats came alive and they scored four combined runs in the 7th and 8th innings.

First baseman Samir Duenez continue his hot hitting with adding three RBIs tonight in the loss. Duenez now has 37 RBIs on the season.

DH Robert Pehl also added a RBI in the game which makes his season total to 24 RBIs.

Also, center fielder Cody Jones and third baseman Mike Hill also had a RBI in the Rocks loss. Jones has 9 RBIs on the year and Hill has 3 RBIs on the year.

Rocks were 5 for 15 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.

Rocks try to even the series to tomorrow at 6:05 pm ET in Salem.
