87ers Shawn Long Named NBA D-League’s Performer Of The Week

The Big man from the Ragin’ Cajuns ( Louisiana-Lafayette) was named NBA D-League Performer Of The Week. Shawn Long was on an absolute tear during the week of January 2nd through the 9th that won him the honor.

Long led the Delaware 87ers to a 3-1 record, while averaging 24.5 points per game, 53.5 percent shooting from the field and led the league with 13.5 rebounds. The center for the Sevens has been on double-double streak lately and had four straight double-double during the week.

The Sevens big man biggest game was on January 6th, Star Wars night for Delaware and Long was feeling the force putting up a career high 45 points and 14 rebounds in Sevens 129-105 win. The next game vs the Knicks on no rest, Long put up 20 points and 11 rebounds in the Sevens 116-88 win.

Long is averaging 19.1 points, 52.5 shooting percentage and 10.3 rebounds ( fourth in the league on the season. The 6 ft 9, 248 pound center is one of four players in the league averaging a double-double on the season.
