The Wilmington Blue Rocks took home a 5-0 road win against the Down East Wood Ducks on Saturday at Grainger Stadium.
The RBIs in the game came from second baseman Kyle Kasser (1), center fielder Blake Perkins (1), DH Dennicher Carrasco (1) and catcher MJ Melendez (2).
Five Blue Rocks players had runs in the win and they were Kasser (1),Perkins (1), Carrasco (1), Melendez (1) and and left fielder Colby Schultz (1).
Eight Wilmington hitters gained a hit in the win and they were Kasser (3),Perkins (2), right fielder Kyle Isbel (1) , Carrasco (1), first baseman Nick Pratto (1), Melendez (1), shortstop Cristian Perez (1) and Schultz (2).
The Wilmington Blue Rocks were three for 13 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.
MJ Melendez hit a two-run home run in the 5-0 win.
Dennicher Carrasco (1) and Kyle Kasser (1) each recorded a stolen base in the win.
On the pitching side, Rocks starter Kris Bubic did not have much trouble with the Ducks lineup as he had seven strikeouts in seven innings. Bubic went seven innings, five hits, one walk, seven strikeouts and earned the win ( fourth of the season).
Robert Garcia would relieve Bubic as he went two innings and two strikeouts.
Rocks Grab Two Runs In First Inning
The Wilmington Blue Rocks quickly took a 2-0 lead in the top of first inning when the offensive quickly put runs on the board.
The first run of the inning came from Blake Perkins who would hit a double to center field which scored Kyle Kasser to give Rocks a 1-0 lead.
The other run of the inning came from Dennicher Carrasco who hit into a sacrifice fly which allowed Perkins to score to extend Rocks lead to 2-0.
Wilmington Adds Two More Runs In Fourth Inning
It took only one swing of a bat for the Rocks to add two more runs in the fourth inning, as MJ Melendez hit a two-run home run to center field which would give the Rocks a 4-0 lead.
Rocks Add One More Run To Lead & Pitching Seals Win
The Rocks were not done adding to their lead just yet, as Kyle Kasser would hit a ground ball single to right field which would score Colby Schultz. Kasser’s RBI would give the Rocks a 5-0 lead in the top of the seventh inning.
Rocks starting pitcher Kris Bubic would leave the game after delivering seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts. Bubic went seven innings, five hits, one walk, seven strikeouts and earned the win.
Robert Garcia would come into the eighth inning to close the door on the 5-0 win which he did just that as he went two innings and two strikeouts.
Rocks close out the series with Ducks tomorrow at one PM ET.
