It was not a pretty win but the Blue Rocks got the job done and took home a 5-3 win vs the Frederick Keys.
The two stars of this game for the Blue Rocks were first baseman Robert Pehl and starting pitcher Foster Griffin who lead the way for the Blue Rocks victory on Friday night.
Pehl help start the Rocks 4 run inning in the 4th inning by hitting a two run double scoring third baseman Mike Hill and right fielder Elier Hernandez.
Second Baseman Brian Bien had an RBI in the same inning with a sacrificed fly to center that scored catcher Chad Johnson that made the score 4-1.
Elier Hernadez also added an RBI in the in 7th inning to have the Rocks up 5-2.
Pehl has 36 RBIs , Bien has 12 RBIs, and Hernadez has 42 on the season.
Rocks were 2 for 13 with runners in scoring position and left 8 men on base in Friday night’s win.
The other star of the night was Blue Rocks pitcher Foster Griffin who had an excellent night on the mound only giving up 2 runs in 5 innings of work.
Griffin’s final stats were: pitched 5 innings, gave up 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 earned run, and struck out 6.
After Griffin’s exit, the bullpen did their job only giving up 5 hits and 1 run in 3.3 innings of work.
