Who’s hotter than the Blue Rocks in single A-advanced ball, nobody. The Rocks continue their hot streak at five straight wins with Friday’s 2-1 victory over the Carolina Mudcats.
The stars of this game was the Rocks pitching staff which in a combined effort shut down Mudcats offense and only allowed one run.
Rocks starting pitcher Derek Gordon started off the night going 4 innings, allowed 2 hits and struck out 5.
Then the bullpen did it’s job and only gave up 5 hits and 1 run the rest of the night.
As for the Rocks offense, there was not much of it but there was just enough juice in those bats to secure a win.
Shortstop Carlos Diaz drove in the only runs for the Rocks by getting a double in the 7th inning and scoring DH Robert Pehl and catcher Chad Johnson.
Diaz added 2 RBIs to his season total which brings him up to 4 RBIs on the year.
Blue Rocks were 1 for 3 with runners in scoring position and left 5 men on base during Friday’s game.
Rocks look to stay hot with another game vs the Mudcats tomorrow at 7:05pm ET.
