Blue Rocks Offense Powers Them to a Win in series opener vs Potomac

It was a hot night in Wilmington on Monday night, In the air and on the field where Rocks offense was hot all night leading to a 7-3 win vs Potomac Nationals.

The star of the night was the Blue Rocks offense who had 14 hits and scored 7 runs on the night.

Rocks first baseman Samir Duenez lead the team with 4 hits, 1 run scored, 4 RBIs, and a home run in the third inning.

Duenez had two run single in the 4th inning which was the Rocks biggest inning of the night which increased the lead to 7-2.

In the first 4 innings, Potomac had no answer for Rocks offense which lead Nationals starter Boone Whiting being bounced after 3 innings of work.

His final stat line was 3 innings pitched, 10 hits allowed, 7 runs scored, 6 earned runs, 4 strike outs, and 1 home run.

Rocks also had RBIs on the night by center fielder Cody  Jones and DH Robert Pehl.

Jones now has 10 RBIs, Pehl has 26 RBIs, and Duenez has 42 RBIs on the season.

After the 4th inning Potomac’s bullpen kept the Rocks bats silent the rest on the night.

Blue Rocks were 6 for 13 with runners in scoring position and left 7 men on base on Monday night.

Unlike Potomac’s starter, Wilmington’s starting pitcher Matt Tenuta had a fantastic outing going 6.2 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 earned runs, and had 5 strike outs.

Rocks continue the series tomorrow at Frawley Stadium at 6:35 pm ET.
