Springer & Harrison combine for 41 points in Delaware Blue Coats 114-103 win over Maine

Blue Coats takes a 16 point lead after one-quarter of play

The game started with the Blue Coats jumping out to a quick 22-7 lead with 6:02 left in the first quarter. The duo of Shaquille Harrison and Jared Brownridge scored 11 of the 22 points on the run. The team drained four shots from the three-point line on this run, which came from Brownridge (2), Harrison (1), and Jaden Springer (1).

Starting at the 5:30 minute mark, Delaware would close out the quarter by scoring 15 more points to hold a 37-21 lead. The duo of Harrison and Springer would score 11 of the 15 points on the run.

Delaware leads by 17 at the end of the first half

In the early minutes of the second quarter, Maine would claw their way back into this game as the team went on a 21-11 run to cut the lead to six points ( 48-42) with 5:37 left in the first half.

The Blue Coats would strike back as the team started on their own 16-5 run seconds later, which expanded the team’s lead to 64-47 at the end of the first half. On the run, the team would make back-to-back three-point shots, which came from Jarron Cumberland and Jared Brownridge.

Delaware also collected five rebounds on that run.

Shaquille Harrison would end the first half with 18 points.

Blue Coats end the third quarter leading by 18

Haywood Highsmith would come out firing in the first six minutes of the second half as he scored eight of the 16 points for Delaware during that time. Highsmith’s hot shooting helped expand the Blue Coats lead to 80-62 with 6:01 left in the third quarter.

In the last 4:17 minutes of the third quarter, Tra-Deon Hollins would be the hot shooter for the Coats as he scored eight of the team’s 12 final points. Hollins would drain two shots from the three-point line during that time. Delaware would end the third quarter with a 92-74 lead.

Coats win 114-103!

The fourth quarter started with Maine scoring nine unanswered points to cut the lead to 92-83 with 9:29 left in the game.

Seconds later, Jaden Springer and Shamorie Ponds would help close this game out as they scored 15 of the Blue Coats’ 22 final points to seal a 114-103 victory.
