On the pitching side, Rocks starter Kris Bubic had Salem’s hitters confused all night as he went seven innings, two hits, one walk and ten strikeouts.
Josh Dye would come into the game to relieve Bubic, as he went one inning, two hits, one run, two strikeouts and earned the win ( third win of the season).
Pitchers Kept Game Silent Till Last Inning
Fans of a pitching duel would of loved this game because for seven innings, neither team’s lineup could figure out the opposing pitcher.
This game was the first of two games which was supposed to be six innings but the pitchers had other plans and it went two extra innings to the eighth.
Rocks starting pitcher Kris Bubic would leave in the top of the eighth inning but the young man had quite the day. Bubic went seven innings, two hits, one walk and ten strikeouts.
Josh Dye would come into the game to relieve Bubic, as he went one inning, two hits, one run, two strikeouts and earned the win.
The one run Dye gave up would be to Salem’s Edgar Corcino who singled on a fly ball to center field which scored Marcus Wilson to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead in the top of the eighth inning.
The Rocks would answer right back in the bottom of the eighth inning as DH MJ Melendez would hit a two-run walk off home run in extra innings to snag a 2-1 game one victory for his team.
The Rocks stay at home as the team opens up a new series with the Carolina Mudcats on July 13th at 6:05 pm ET.
