Blue Rocks fall to Red Sox in series opener 11-7

On Monday night, it was more of the same for the Blue Rocks who got out slugged by The Salem Red Sox 11-7.

Just like the weather in Wilmington, DE lately, The Blue Rocks offense has been very dreary and almost no-fun to watch but there is a bright spot on this offense.

The bright spot came from Rocks Outfielder Brandon Downes in Monday’s night game vs the Salem Red Sox who had a Grand slam, 2 doubles, and 5 RBIs on the night.  Downes brought his season total to 50 RBIs.

Other than Downes this was an forgettable game for the Blue rocks and especially for starting pitcher Corey Ray who allowed 8 earned runs, 5 hits, and 2 walks before getting pulled in the 2nd inning.

Blue Rocks were 3 for 13 with runners in scoring position in Monday’s series opener vs Red Sox. The Rocks also left 7 men on base on Monday night.
