Blue Rocks fall to Red Sox in series opener 11-7

On Monday night, it was more of the same for the Blue Rocks who got out slugged by The Salem Red Sox 11-7.

Just like the weather in Wilmington, DE lately, The Blue Rocks offense has been very dreary and almost no-fun to watch but there is a bright spot on this offense.

The bright spot came from Rocks Outfielder Brandon Downes in Monday’s night game vs the Salem Red Sox who had a Grand slam, 2 doubles, and 5 RBIs on the night. ¬†Downes brought his season total to 50 RBIs.

Other than Downes this was an forgettable game for the Blue rocks and especially for starting pitcher Corey Ray who allowed 8 earned runs, 5 hits, and 2 walks before getting pulled in the 2nd inning.

Blue Rocks were 3 for 13 with runners in scoring position in Monday’s series opener vs Red Sox. The Rocks also left 7 men on base on Monday night.
