Ricky Council IV, David Duke Jr., and Javonte Smart came out on fire in the first eight minutes of this game as the trio scored 21 of Delaware’s 27 points to help give the team a 12-point lead (27-15) with 4:04 left in the opening quarter.
The Blue Coats would add 12 more points to their score to extend their advantage to 39-27 at the end of the first quarter.
Delaware would hold an 11-point lead at the end of the first half.
Fast forward to the 7:37 minute mark in the second quarter, where the Knicks’ Jaylen Martin would drain a three-point shot to cut the deficit to four points (45-41).
Starting at the 6:58 minute mark, the Blue Coats would outscore West Chester 23-16 to end the first half with a 68-57 edge. Ricky Council IV and Javonte Smart had the hot touch during this stretch as the duo scored 14 of the team’s 23 points.
Blue Coats would hold an eight-point lead at the end of the third quarter.
West Chester would have new energy in the second half as they would go on a 13-5 run to slice Delaware’s lead to three points (73-70) with 7:55 remaining in the third.
The Blue Coats would respond by outscoring the Knicks 22-17 for the rest of the third to hold a 95-87 advantage. David Duke Jr. would have the magic touch during this stretch as he scored 13 of the team’s 22 points.
Delaware takes home a 126-113 win!
The Knicks would continue to fight in the fourth quarter as at the 11:08 minute mark, Obadiah Noel would hit a free-throw to cut the deficit to four points (95-91).
Starting at the 9:57 minute mark, the Blue Coats would put a more comfortable cushion between them and West Chester, as they would outscore the Knicks 31-22 to seal a 126-113 victory.
Melvin Frazier Jr., Terquavion Smith, and Ricky Council IV would score 22 of the team’s 31 points during that stretch.
